ESC projects
what are the possibilities within YFU

what does it mean to enroll in an ESC project at YFU?

An ESC project is a full-time commitment, meaning you'll dedicate significant time to your project during weekdays, and sometimes evenings or weekends, engaging with our local volunteers or participants. Flexibility is essential as our various projects may require adjusting schedules for workshops with partners. However, you'll also have the freedom to take personal time during quieter periods, without strict clocking of hours, as long as your work is accomplished.

Both of our projects focus on organizing and facilitating workshops for youth in Flanders. This entails frequent travel to different locations for workshops and meticulous planning behind the scenes, including coordinating with partners and preparation tasks.

In addition to your daily tasks, you'll have the opportunity to work on a personal project that you believe will add value to our organization. Past projects have included podcast recordings, promotional videos, and courses on media use and psychology.

Once the project commences, we'll assess your workload, strengths, and weaknesses weekly to tailor your tasks to your expectations. Despite offering two individual volunteering projects, collaboration is encouraged for activities, and supporting each other and other colleagues is essential.

Lastly, you'll have the chance to participate in all activities YFU organizes for our exchange students during your project, connecting not only with our Flemish volunteers but also with our international exchange students.
